There Is No Perfect Diet, Only Live-It

September 29, 2008

If in the natural hygiene movement (NH) or any other diet someone devised a perfect meal plan it would not be so for everyone, as we all have individual constitutions alike and different. Hence there is no such thing as the perfect diet. The whole idea of a perfect diet simply does not fit with food or nourishment as we truely understand it in NH. We must always remember that nourishment always fits into a person's current state of health & place in life. As we all know, food is not the be all & end all of anything, that it is more about lifestyle choices as a whole. Further, nourishment is dynamic, not static. A person's nutrient needs can change overnite, & they can change back & forth, sometimes dramatically. There is not one single food, or even combination of foods, that can provide optimal nourishment meal to meal, day to day, or over any length of time. Nourishment simply does not work that way. We must always remember that our nourishment goals are changing goals. They change as we change, & they always depend on a variety of foods that cannot be accomplished in any one diet, as if set in stone. In NH we see that the seasons of the year is an important backdrop for our food variety, & more optimal nutrition can mean seasonal eating that varies between winter, spring, summer, or fall specific to the territorial footprint where we reside or habitate.

A perfect diet would then not be raw vegan versus cooked meat at all, that division would simply not be necessary, as each specific diet needs to meet certain criteria. Our specific diets need an array of different colored fruits & vegetables, properly prepared & raised whole grains & legumes, a small portion of protein rich foods such as nuts, seeds, fish, or lean meat. So then, ideally a more perfect diet involves all the foods we are able to raise/grow organically ourselves in a sustainable manner from the wild or as indigenous to any given territory of residence as possible, & in respect of long standing, time proven cultures before our time or place of origin.

In this way we learn that the science of life is not medicine. The science of life is nature. In this way we learn not to die-it but to live-it, regardless of what we may think is perfect.

Thankyou for allowing me to voice this opinion of the current state of affairs in NH.
